The Rewards of Battle
The Rewards for a Battle are determined by the role your characters performed in the battle, how much advantage they earned, and whether or not they were able to achieve their Goal
Glory
The Squad Leader (Commander, Gunso, or Shugenja) earns:
If more than one PC assumes the Leader role during the course of the combat, the last Leader of the squad receives the glory for the Squad.
Influence
If the Mass Battle is occurring during a Court Sequence in The Influence Game, and the disposition of the court is friendly to the PCs side in the Mass Battle:
Distributing the Spoils
The Glory earned by Battle is in innately unfair, since it goes only to the leader. However the leader may choose to share this glory with his squad, praising their actions and courage and sharing hte credit.
During a downtime period, the Leader may make a Performance or Courtesy skill Roll to share the Glory with the members of his Squad.
As a downtime roll, stances do not apply.
The TN of the roll is equal to the number of heroes in the Squad that are sharing the Glory.
On success, the Glory from the Leader's Battle Glory Pool is distributed equally between all the heroes sharing the Glory.
On Bonus Successes. add 1 for each Bonus Success to the the total Battle Glory Pool before it is distributed between the heroes sharing the Glory.
If there is a Shortfall, the Glory Pool is still distributed equally between all the heroes sharing the Glory, but the Glory Pool reduced by a total of 2 for each point of shortfall.
If there is an uneven distribution of points, the leader should assign the distribution as equally as possible among the heroes, but may assign the remainder as they choose.
Example:
Honor
If the leader chooses not to share the glory with their squad, they take a Major Honor Loss of Meiyo.
Each other member of the squad receives a Trivial Honor Gain of Meiyo for accepting the usurpation of their glory without complaint.
If the leader chooses to share the glory with their squad, they take a Trivial Honor Gain of Meiyo.
Any hero who participates in a Mass Battle receives a Trivial Honor Gain of Courage.
Any hero who becomes Incapacitated or takes a wound of severity 6 or greater gains a Minor Honor Gain of Courage.
Additional Honor Gains and Losses from Combat depend on duels completed and actions completed during combat, and also the situation in which the battle can occur, and should be awarded by the GM.

- 2 Battle Glory per Advantage Point gained by the Squad during battle
- 2 Battle Glory per Advantage Point the Squad prevented the enemy from exploiting during battle
- 4 Additional Battle Glory for your Army achieving its overall Goal
- 4 Additional Battle Glory if your Army was overall Victor
If more than one PC assumes the Leader role during the course of the combat, the last Leader of the squad receives the glory for the Squad.
Influence
If the Mass Battle is occurring during a Court Sequence in The Influence Game, and the disposition of the court is friendly to the PCs side in the Mass Battle:
- The Leader of the Squad can also receive 1 Influence Point per Point of Advantage gained by the Squad
- Each Non-Leader PC also gains 2 Influence Points if they participated in the Mass Battle and their Army achieved its overall Goal

Example:
- The leader of a squad earns 14 glory (Winning 3 advantage + achieving the overall goal + overall victory)
- The squad had 5 heroes, including the leader.
- The leader must make a TN5 Performance or Courtesy check to distribute the Glory to the members of the squad.
- If the leader succeeds with 6 successes, the Glory Pool is increased by 1 to 15. Each hero gets 3 points of glory.
- If the leader fails with only 4 successes, the Glory Pool is reduced by 2 to 12. Each hero, including the leader gets 2 points of glory for the battle., and then the leader can distribute the remaining 2 points as they please, or keep it for themselves.
